# 010 Creating the Tangible Wood Sample Box

Creating a Wood Sample Box - Samples Have Arrived!
Materials

They’ve arrived! It was back to House of Hardwood this afternoon to pick up the cuts and they look great. I also added a pint of clear coat to my order so that I can show the color change once these species have a bit of protection applied. Having these in hand, I think the next batch may be half as thick, 3/8” instead of 3/4”.

The next question is packaging. I’d like to keep it simple. The packaging should make the samples easy to access, carry, ship, and contain information about the samples. There’s also a choice to either add a label to the box or get a box with printing.

I’ve sketched some initial ideas…let the mock-ups begin!

UPDATE: Yesterday evening I was able to add a couple of coats of the matte clear coat to the samples. It’s nice to see how the wood would look unfinished and sealed in the same sample.
